Course Description: English for Masters of  Civil Engineering

This course aims to develop the communication skills of civil engineering students through the communicative language learning approach. The course will focus on improving the technical writing, speaking, and reading skills necessary for effective communication in civil engineering. Students will learn technical vocabulary, grammar, and syntax specific to the field and practice using them through communicative activities, such as role-playing, case studies, and group discussions. The course will also cover professional communication skills, such as writing effective emails and correspondence, presenting technical information, and collaborating with stakeholders.

Throughout the 15-week course, students will develop critical reading and analysis skills for technical documents and learn about the ethical considerations of technical writing. The course will culminate in a final project presentation that demonstrates the students' technical writing and communication skills. By the end of the course, students will be able to effectively communicate technical information to a global audience, understand the importance of communication in successful civil engineering projects, and use communicative language learning strategies to improve their communication skills in practical situations.
